  • About

Every year, Kirklees Involvement Network hosts a Picnic in the Park as part of Learning Disabilities Week.  It's a time for people with learning disabilities to come together, meet - and make - friends, and have fun being themselves. The day includes activities and events, including shows by the Dark Horse Theatre Company, live music, and drumming workshops.

Free for anyone with a learning disability, their family, friends, and the wider community, this day is a celebration of the learning disability community in Kirklees, as well as a wonderful way to raise awareness and break down barriers, helping create a friendlier, fairer, and more welcoming world for all.

Unfortunately, the cost of running the event is much higher than in previous years and we need your help.  Please take a minute to make a donation to help us make this a special day for all involved.

This year's picnic will be on 21st June 2024 in Greenhead Park, Huddersfield (top entrance near Gledholt Road) from 11am to 2pm.  If you live in or close to Kirklees, please join us - it's a great day out (whatever the weather)!
